13-year-old killed, older brother injured in southwest Houston, HPD says

The teens were walking in the parking lot of an apartment complex when a vehicle drove up and the shooter fired several shots, killing the younger brother.

HOUSTON — Two young brothers were shot Sunday evening in the Willowbend neighborhood of southwest Houston, and one of them did not survive, according to the Houston Police Department.

It happened around 8:40 p.m. in Les Lacs at 610 apartments near the South Loop.

The teens were walking in the parking lot when a gray vehicle with two men inside drove up. One of them got out and fired several shots at the victims.

The 13-year-old died instantly. His 16-year-old brother was rushed to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, HPD said.

They believe the victims may have been targeted.

The suspects fled in what may have been a gray Lexus.
