Odisha: Minor girl gang-raped in Berhampur, five people arrested

A total of five people were arrested in Berhampur, Odisha on Wednesday for the alleged gang rape of a minor girl.

Police said that the girl, a Class 12 student from Baidyanathpur in Berhampur, went to her friend’s house about three days ago where she was allegedly drugged and raped by the five accused.

The girl informed her parents about the incident, who lodged a complaint at Baidyanathpur police station, following which the five were arrested.

Berhampur Superintendent of Police Sarthak Sarangi told India Today TV, “We have arrested all the five accused. The girl’s health condition is now stable and she has recorded her statement in court. A case has been filed under relevant sections of the IPC and POCSO Act.” .”

Further investigations are underway, he added.
