INDONESIA (WJW) — A wife and mother of four did not return home late last week, causing concern for her family.

Following a search in the village of Kalempang in central Indonesia, a 45-year-old woman named Farida was reportedly found dead on Friday… in the belly of a five-meter-long reticulated python.

Her husband became suspicious when he found their belongings on the ground but his wife did not, a village chief told Agence France Presse (AFP). Then a snake with an elongated midsection was spotted nearby.

In a video posted by TMZ, villagers are seen cutting open the python to see if Farida is actually inside. Her head is immediately visible. Her body was found with all clothes intact.

Although it is considered extremely rare for pythons to attack humans, this is the fifth fatal incident in Indonesia since 2017, according to CBS News. Pythons typically prefer animals such as pigs and monkeys, as well as other mammals from South Asia, which they crush to death and then swallow whole.

According to the British National History Museum, the reticulated python is the longest snake in the world and can grow to be over six metres long.
