Teenager takes drugs, rapes and blackmails woman

Ghatkopar police are on the hunt for a 21-year-old suspect who allegedly raped a 24-year-old woman after slipping something into her drink. He filmed the incident and threatened to post the video on the internet if she did not pay him for it. The suspect extorted Rs 500,000 in cash and 15 tolas of gold from the victim.

According to police, the incident took place in Ghatkopar, where both reside. “The accused and the victim live in the same locality and know each other. In April 2023, the accused called the victim to his house for a conversation. He drugged the water he offered her. When the woman lost consciousness, he allegedly raped her and filmed the incident on his mobile phone. Later, he used the video to blackmail the victim and force her to hand over a substantial amount of cash and gold,” an official said.

The accused shared the video with the victim. Fearing disrepute in society and her family, the victim borrowed money from friends and relatives under various pretexts for several months and also stole jewellery from family members to meet the suspects’ demands. As the woman continued to give in, the suspects’ demands became higher and higher, forcing the victim to confide in her family. Her family wholeheartedly supported the victim in her hour of need. After learning the truth, the family decided to seek police help and filed a complaint at Ghatkopar police station.

“We have registered a case under sections 376, 328, 506 and 384 of the IPC. We are conducting a thorough investigation and are determined to arrest the suspect as soon as possible,” said another officer from Ghatkopar police station.
