A BHS teenager is killed and his father is seriously injured in a three-vehicle accident – ​​Bowie News

A Bowie High School student was killed and her father was seriously injured in a three-vehicle accident south of Bellevue in Clay County on Friday.
Bailey Layne McGlothlin was the 15-year-old daughter of James McGlothlin, Bowie, and Kesha Axtell, Nocona. The teenager had just completed a successful first year as a Bowie Jackrabbit, excelling in track and field and other areas.
The family reception will be held on June 7th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the White Family Funeral Home, and a memorial service for her life will be held on June 8th at 3:00 p.m. in the high school gymnasium.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to the Walker Stallcup Scholarship Fund.

The accident occurred shortly after noon on May 31, 2.5 miles south of Bellevue on US 287. It was a chain reaction accident involving a car and two semi-trailers.
The Department of Public Safety reports in its preliminary investigation that Donald Anthony Shelton Jr., 47, of Houston, driving a 2020 tractor-trailer with a semi-trailer, was stopped on the right shoulder of U.S. 287.
James Clifton McGlothlin, 48, of Fort Worth, was driving a Chevrolet Malibu south on US 287 and according to DPS, he was not driving in one lane. The Malibu struck the rear of the truck on the shoulder and spun clockwise in the lane. It then struck the trailer of a third vehicle driven by Matthew Gavin Lowe, 45, of Decatur, AL. Lowe was driving a 2017 semi-trailer pulling a tractor-trailer.
McGlothlin’s vehicle came to a stop in both southbound lanes. His passenger, Bailey, was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash.
James McGlothlin was taken to Texas Health Harris Methodist Fort Worth with serious injuries, according to DPS. The truck drivers were uninjured. The Bowie News was unable to obtain any updates on McGlothlin from DPS.
