Driver faces charges after hitting telephone pole and causing car to catch fire

According to Vermont State Police, a New York driver will face charges after he lost control of his vehicle and struck a telephone pole on Vermont Route 67E in Shaftsbury on Tuesday evening. According to police, Nethanel Woodcock of Cambridge, New York, was driving west when he lost control of his truck on a left turn. The 23-year-old nearly struck another vehicle on the road before colliding with a telephone pole, causing the truck to catch fire. Woodcock was able to get out of the truck and suffered only minor injuries. Investigators said they measured yaw and tire marks over a length of more than 900 feet. The car was a total loss. The Shaftsbury Fire Department and Green Mountain Power assisted police at the scene. Woodcock is charged with careless driving and is scheduled to appear in Bennington Superior Court in July. He also received several traffic tickets.

According to police, the 23-year-old almost collided with another vehicle on the road before colliding with a telephone pole. The truck then caught fire. Woodcock was able to get out of the truck and only suffered minor injuries.
