Investigators: One dead and two injured in shooting in Woodvale | Cambria County

JOHNSTOWN, Pennsylvania – One person was pronounced dead following reports of an overnight shooting in the Woodvale neighborhood of Johnstown, investigators said.

According to Cambria County District Attorney Greg Neugebauer, three people were hit by gunfire.

He said the incident involved a group of people on Plum Street, “and this was not a random incident.”

A man in his 20s who was taken to a hospital by people on the scene was pronounced dead on Maple Avenue shortly after midnight Tuesday, Cambria County Coroner Jeff Lees said.

“They flagged down emergency responders on Maple Avenue and asked for help,” Lees said, adding that another person was treated by emergency responders for their injuries.

A young man, whose name was not released pending notification of his family, was pronounced dead after rescue workers began rendering aid, Lees said.

Another person is being treated for “very serious injuries,” Neugebauer said.

As of 8:20 a.m., no one was in custody in connection with the shooting, but Johnstown police, county detectives and the Cambria County District Attorney’s Office were investigating the incident and following up on leads, he said.

Anyone with information that could help investigators in this case is asked to call Johnstown Police at the Cambria County non-emergency line, 814-472-2100.
