Rape: Man sentenced to life imprisonment for raping his underage stepdaughter | Agra News

Agra: A local court in Mathura district sentenced a man to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 for raping his 12-year-old stepdaughter. In case of non-payment of the fine, the accused faces an additional two years of simple imprisonment, said Deputy District Administrative Councillor (ADGC) Alka Upmanyu. The incident took place on April 25, 2022, following which the survivor’s mother filed a police complaint against her husband, saying, “I had gone with my son to get his Aadhaar card issued. In my absence, my husband called my daughter to the kitchen on the pretext of fetching water. He did wrong things to her. When I returned home, my daughter narrated the entire incident.” After investigation, the police arrested the accused and filed a chargesheet before the court. After the court heard both sides and examined the evidence and witnesses, the special judge of the Pocso court gave more details of the case. ADGC Upmanyu said, “The statement of the survivor was recorded under Sections 161 and 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code. Based on the evidence, a chargesheet was filed against the accused under Sections 376 A and B of the Indian Penal Code and the Pocso Act.”
