3 water breaks postpone Megan Thee Stallion concert in Atlanta

The patience of Atlantans is wearing thin.

Late Friday, May 31, the City of Atlanta confirmed that a third water main break had occurred in 10 hours. As of the morning of June 1, watershed management is still working to repair the breaks. The pause affected many people in the downtown Atlanta area and, most notably, postponed Megan Thee Stallion’s concert with GloRilla opening at State Farm Arena.

“I’m extremely disappointed because I had a huge surprise for the Hotties tonight, but we will follow the mayor’s protocol,” Thee Stallion posted on X, formerly known as Twitter on May 31. “Tonight’s show has been rescheduled for this Sunday, June 2, 2024.

“We will still move forward with tomorrow’s show.

“I pray for the people who have lost access to water because of this situation.

“Can’t wait to see my Atlanta Hotties at the #hotgirlsummertour.”

Residents and fans began to lose patience.

“Yeah, check this out, @CityofAtlanta,” @DntBurnYaBridge posted on X, “because I’m trying to see @theestallion tomorrow.”

Other comments included people who said they needed to care for loved ones with special hygiene needs and others who wanted to do normal daily tasks, including basic indoor plumbing. While angry about the water situation, other citizens reminded city officials that the funds could have been used to prevent incidents like this instead of using millions of dollars to build the water center. Atlanta public safety training, also known as “Cop City”. Protesters were unhappy with the approval of the construction of the public safety training center because in the face of public calls for more police reforms in 2020, the city decided to invest more money and law enforcement resources. This training center is supposed to have a simulated city where officers can simulate how they would handle a mass protest in the city, allowing protesters and the public to give it the nickname “Cop City.”
