Selenskyj in Singapore at the Shangri-La Dialogue

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is attending the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore to rally support for Kyiv, which is facing renewed Russian attack.

According to the International Institute for Strategic Studies, a speech to the Security Forum is planned for the weekend.

AFP reporters saw Zelensky enter the lobby of the luxury hotel where the Shangri-La Dialogue was taking place.

He hopes to persuade donor countries to supply Kiev with weapons and break off relations with Russia.

In recent days, Zelensky visited Spain, Sweden, Portugal and Belgium, securing new commitments of arms and aid for his ailing army.

The Ukrainian president is also calling for support for a peace summit in Switzerland next month.

Russia attacks the Ukrainian energy sector

Russia launched a full-scale attack on Ukraine’s energy and critical infrastructure, injuring at least 19 people.

The Ukrainian Air Force said it had successfully shot down 35 of the 53 Russian missiles and 46 of the 47 combat drones used in the attacks. This was the sixth major attack since March.

However, the Ukrainian national power grid operator Ukrenergo reported damage to facilities in the eastern, central and western regions.

In response to the attacks, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky again called for stronger air defenses.

“Our partners know exactly what is needed for this. Additional Patriot and other modern air defense systems for Ukraine. Accelerating and expanding the delivery of F-16s to Ukraine. Equipping our warriors with all the necessary capabilities,” he wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

Due to damage to Ukraine’s energy infrastructure in recent weeks, leaders of the war-torn country have imposed nationwide power outages.
