Man shot multiple times and killed in apartment block on Chicago’s south side

CHICAGO (CBS) – A man was killed in a shooting in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood Friday evening.

At 7:04 p.m., the man was near the sidewalk in the 8700 block of South Loomis Street when two armed men approached him and shot him, police said.

The victim was hit several times in the body and was pronounced dead at the scene.

After the shooting, police cordoned off the section of the tree- and bungalow-lined Loomis Street apartment complex where the shooting occurred.

More than a dozen shell casing marks were visible on the street, and over a dozen more on the nearby sidewalk.

No one was in custody as of late Friday evening. The investigation was being conducted by Calumet detectives.
