AFTER LEARNED IT WAS INTO THE WRONG HANDS…THE GIRL ALERT HER SCHOOL – BLUFFTON MIDDLE…BUT ULTIMATELY TAKEN HER OWN ACTION. THIS VIDEO – WHICH IS CIRCULATING ON SOCIAL MEDIA – SHOWS A GIRL HITTING ANOTHER GIRL WITH HER METAL STANLEY CUP. AFTER REVIEWING THE POLICE REPORT…INSIGHTS SAY THE BEATING STARTED OVER A NUDE PHOTO. POLICE SAY A GIRL SHARED THE PHOTO ON SOCIAL MEDIA. THE GIRL IN THE PHOTO ALERT THE SCHOOL…BUT TURNED TO VIOLENCE TO RESOLVE THE SITUATION. THE EVENT REPORT CLAIMS THAT THE GIRL IN THE PHOTO HIT THE OTHER GIRL WHO POSTED IT. Three Bluffton Middle School students got into a violent fight on a school bus that was caught on video. Now, all three girls are facing criminal charges. According to an 11-page incident report uncovered by WJCL 22, it all started with a nude photo of one of the girls taken years ago. When the girl learned it had fallen into the wrong hands, she alerted Bluffton Middle School officials, but ultimately took the initiative herself. The video circulating all over social media shows a girl hitting another girl on the head with her metal Stanley Cup. The incident occurred on May 17. After reviewing the police report, investigators say the fight stemmed from a nude photo. Police say a girl shared that photo on social media. The girl pictured in the photo alerted BMS officials, but became violent in an attempt to resolve the situation. The incident report states that the girl pictured in the photo hit the other girl who posted it. Then, according to investigators, another girl who had nothing to do with the illicit photo picked up a Stanley Cup and hit her repeatedly with it. That’s what you see in the viral video. The student who was attacked suffered multiple cuts that required stitches and staples. “I would tell them the same thing I tell my own child who is the same age: I would tell them not to do anything stupid and not to mail stuff. If they do, they will be held criminally responsible for it,” said Bluffton Police Detective Dan Marciano. The girl who threw the first punch was charged with third-degree assault. The girl who used the Stanley Cup was charged with first-degree assault. And the girl who shared the photo was charged with unauthorized communication. I don’t think she had any intention of distributing nude child pornography, but it was middle school-aged children, girls, doing stupid things, and she was charged for it,” Marciano said. The school district cannot say how it decided to take disciplinary action against the students, but has released a letter to parents that says, in part, “This type of behavior is not in keeping with our school and will not be tolerated. After reviewing the police report, investigators believe the argument was sparked by a nude photo. According to police, a girl shared this photo on social media.

The girl pictured in the photo alerted BMS officers, but resorted to violence to handle the situation. The incident report states that the girl pictured in the photo hit the other girl who posted it.

Then, according to investigators, another girl who had nothing to do with the illegal image took a Stanley Cup and hit her repeatedly with it. That’s what you can see in the viral video.

The attacked student suffered numerous cuts that required stitches and staples.

“I would tell them the same thing I tell my own child who is the same age: I would tell them not to do anything stupid and not to mail things. If they do that, they will be held criminally responsible,” said Bluffton Police Detective Dan Marciano.

The girl who threw the first punch was charged with third-degree assault. The girl who used the Stanley Cup was charged with first-degree assault. And the girl who shared the photo was charged with unauthorized communications.

We asked the police why more serious charges were not brought against the girl.

“It’s a nude photo. I don’t think her intention was to distribute nude pornography involving children, but it was middle school-aged children, girls, doing stupid things, and she was charged for it,” Marciano said.

The school district cannot say how it decided to take disciplinary action against the students, but has released a letter to parents that says, in part, “This type of behavior is not representative of our school and will not be tolerated. Out of respect for all students involved, please talk to your child about the importance of not posting videos or photos of other students in the media.”
