Unsettled weather brings rain and storm threat back to the Mid-South

FRIDAY: During the day, a disturbance will gradually move across the area, bringing rain and thunderstorms at times. Aside from the possibility of isolated showers and thunderstorms, mostly cloudy skies are expected, with highs between 27 and 29 degrees. One or two of the thunderstorms could bring strong winds amid the heavy rains. Another wave of rain and storms is expected to move across the region Friday night into Saturday morning, with lows around 21 degrees.

WEEKEND PLANNER: The unsettled weather pattern will continue through the weekend – with variable cloudy skies, occasional showers and storms amid the Gulf air resting over the Mid-South. Rain and storms will be part of the day Saturday – more widespread early in the morning, more interrupted later in the day. Highs will be around 80. Rain chances will tend to be more spaced out through Sunday as the disturbance moves out with highs in the 80s amid a mix of clouds and sun.

EXTENDED FORECAST: Rain chances are highest in early June, with a mix of late spring warmth and humidity. Daily rain chances will continue through midweek, occasionally – storms could be fierce and strong with highs in the 30s and, in some cases, above 25 degrees. Towards the end of the week, a front will move through the region, bringing drier air through next weekend.
