2 dead, 3 injured in crash on I-495

​The closed roads have now been reopened.

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Two people are dead and several others were hospitalized after a crash on Interstate 495 Tuesday afternoon.

The accident occurred just before 12:45 p.m. on the I-495 Outer Loop past Exit 25. Two of the westbound lanes were closed while emergency crews investigated the accident.

Maryland State Police have confirmed that only one car was involved in the crash.

One of the passengers in the car died in the accident. She was identified as Loren Jones, 14, of Hyattsville.

The driver and three other passengers were taken to nearby hospitals for help. The driver, Dorothy Skinner, 74, of Beltsville, died in the hospital.

The health status of the three other passengers was not disclosed.

The closed roads have now been reopened.
