Nash County officers find dead person during welfare check, suspected shooter on the run

BAILEY, NC – Nash County officers found a man dead with a gunshot wound during a welfare check Thursday.

The Nash County Sheriff’s Office said the person responsible is on the run. However, the Sheriff’s Office did not release a description of the person.

On Thursday, officers responded to a home along Lyles Road south of Boykin Road. Upon entering, they found someone dead from a gunshot wound.

Investigators were on site on Thursday.

The investigation is ongoing.
