Teen shot dead at San Marcos mall identified – NBC 7 San Diego

Authorities on Tuesday publicly identified a 17-year-old boy who was fatally shot last week by an unknown assailant while shopping at a San Marcos mall.

Isaac Shekhayem of San Marcos was standing with a group of people in a mall parking lot in the 900 block of Los Vallecitos Boulevard around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday when a vehicle stopped on the street and the gunman got out and opened the door, according to the Sheriff’s Department There was a fire in San Diego County.

The shooter got away, NBC 7’s Audra Stafford reports.

The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the upper body, Lt. Michael Krugh. One of his companions drove him to Palomar Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

“At this stage of the investigation, the motivation and circumstances of the crime remain under investigation,” Krugh said Tuesday. “There is no suspect information at this time.”
