The Dayton and Columbus areas are testing a new billboard weather warning system

Ohio plans to roll out a new weather warning system using billboards in Dayton and Columbus.

Called the Ohio Traveler Alert System, the system displays real-time warning information on digital billboards to warn drivers of potentially threatening weather conditions such as high winds, snow squalls, heavy ice and flooding. The messages are intended to be particularly helpful to travelers who are unfamiliar with the area and its potential weather hazards, as well as motorists who are unaware of impending severe weather and people who live near the billboards.
