Youth in Wayne County Jail sexually assaults two boys: police

HAMTRAMCK, MI – A Farmington Hills woman is charged with sexually assaulting two teenagers at the Wayne County Juvenile Detention Center, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office.

Svetlana Kuryanova, 33, was charged with two counts of second-degree sexual assault. She was booked into jail on a $75,000 bond. Her next court date is scheduled for May 16. If convicted, she could face up to 15 years in prison.

Officials said Kuryanova sexually assaulted the two boys, ages 16 and 17, at the juvenile detention center on Hamtramck Drive in Hamtramck around 7 p.m. on April 8.

Kuryanova was working as a juvenile corrections specialist at the time of the attack, officials said.

“The allegations in this case are among the most disturbing I have ever seen,” said Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy. “I find it difficult to imagine that this happened in a juvenile detention center and that the accused defendant is allegedly responsible for this illegal behavior.”
