Woman dead after shooting at Summit Lake Apartments in Akron

AKRON, Ohio – Akron police are investigating a shooting at Summit Lake Apartments that left a 24-year-old woman dead.

Police said the shooting occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning. Officers responded to a residence in the apartments at around 12:26 a.m. When they arrived, they found the victim with an apparent gunshot wound to the upper body.

The victim was taken by emergency services to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

An Akron police spokesman said a suspect has not yet been identified. The victim’s name was not released pending further investigation.

The Akron Police Department is currently investigating the incident.
