BPD: Jamestown man rams police car after attempting to escape

According to their own statements, the police saw the 34-year-old commit several traffic violations and then speed away when they tried to stop him.

JAMESTOWN, NY — A Jamestown man was involved in a chase that ended around 1 a.m. last night, according to a police news release sent to 2 On Your Side.

According to their own statements, the police saw the 34-year-old commit several traffic violations and then speed away when they tried to stop him.

During the chase, the driver nearly hit several police officers with his car. He then rammed a New York State Police car and a parked car. The chase ended, according to police, when he collided head-on with a Jamestown Police cruiser.

They added that the man resisted arrest but was eventually taken into custody.

He was charged with three counts of first- and second-degree reckless endangerment, third-degree unlawful flight from police in a motor vehicle, resisting arrest and second-degree malicious damage to property, the press release said.

He is being held in the Chautauqua County Jail without bail because he has a prior criminal record, authorities say.
