Tommy Robinson “arrested under anti-terror laws”

On Saturday, the far-right activist showed a “defamatory” film to thousands of protesters in Trafalgar Square.

Mr Robinson broadcast a one-hour and 45-minute “documentary” about a legal dispute between himself and a Syrian student on large screens at a march in central London.

On Monday, he will have to appear before the Supreme Court. He is accused of contempt for making the “documentary” entitled “Silenced.” He is also said to have disregarded an injunction prohibiting him from repeating the claims made in the film.

In 2021, he was ordered to pay Jamal Hijazi £100,000 for allegations he made against the Syrian refugee after a video of an attack on him at his school in Huddersfield went viral.

The false allegations, including that Mr Hijazi had attacked girls at his school, were repeated in the documentary.

Thousands of flag-waving protesters took part in the march on Saturday, chanting “We want our country back” and “Rule, Britannia!”

As the crowds watched the film, Robinson posted on Twitter: “I’m going to jail for two years for showing the unbelievable truth.”

The Metropolitan Police have been asked for comment.
