Fuyao Glass says Ohio unit not targeted by Department of Homeland Security raids

BEIJING (Reuters) – Chinese auto glass maker Fuyao Glass Industry Group said U.S. authorities searched its Ohio subsidiary on July 26 as part of an ongoing investigation into a third-party labor recruitment company.

Fuyao Glass America Inc. was not the target of the investigation, Fuyao quoted the US authority as saying in a statement to the Shanghai Stock Exchange.

Local media had previously quoted a spokesman for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s investigative agency as saying that its special agents were executing search warrants at Fuyao Glass’s unit and 27 other locations as part of an investigation into “allegations of financial crimes and labor exploitation.”

Production at the Ohio facility was partially halted during the search, which was completed Friday afternoon. Transportation and delivery of cargo were not affected, the company said, adding that current operations are normal.
