KPRC 2 FLOOD TRACKER: Get alerted if flooding occurs in your immediate area

Today’s forecast:

The NWS has extended the flood watch until 1 p.m. Some coastal towns could get 2 to 4 inches of additional rain. The ground is saturated, so any additional rain could easily cause more flooding. Our high temperature today is below average and even if we add in the feels-like temperature, it is still slightly cooler. Triple-digit heat will return later this week.

In the footsteps of the tropics:

After a quiet second half of July, the tropics could wake up late next week. There is a 20% chance that a tropical wave will develop in the Atlantic over the next 7 days. The wave is entering an area with less Saharan dust and little wind shear, giving it a chance to develop. If it becomes a tropical storm, it will become Debby. It has a 10% chance of becoming a hurricane near Florida on August 5.

10 day forecast:

We remain in this active storm pattern through the weekend. Stay weather aware as flooding moves in quickly. Increased precipitation means below normal temperatures through Saturday. 95° is our average for this time of year. We will reverse that pattern next week with temperatures returning to the 90s.
