3-year-old attacked by dogs in Brooklyn Park

In an update on the family’s GoFundMe page, organizers said the child’s parents have begun the process of donating their son’s organs.

BROOKLYN PARK, Minnesota — The 3-year-old boy who was attacked by dogs in Brooklyn Park last week is not expected to survive, an online fundraiser says.

In an update on a GoFundMe page set up for the family, organizers said the child’s parents had begun the process of donating their son’s organs.

“By doing this, we honor Covil’s life and save the lives of other children in the hope that no other parent will have to endure the pain they are experiencing.”

The boy’s mother also suffered serious injuries in the July 19 attack and has already had to undergo two surgeries, the GoFundMe campaign said.

During their initial investigation, police said multiple officers fired their weapons at both dogs. One was killed and the other injured. The injured dog was taken to a nearby animal care facility after the attack, but his current condition is unknown.

Organizers of the family’s GoFundMe campaign said all donations to the family will be used to cover costs.

“If we can help them by covering the costs associated with unemployment, medical expenses, daily living in the hospital and costs that may arise in the near future, we would be helping people who truly deserve it,” they wrote.
