Melvindale police officer Mohamed Said shot dead on Sunday

According to multiple reports, a Melvindale police officer is dead after a shooting at the corner of Oakwood and Dix Road.

Police officer Mohamed Said was killed in the shooting on Sunday, said Mazen Saeed, a cousin of the officer.

“It’s hard because he’s my cousin, it feels like a movie,” Saeed said. “I think the city should get more involved and put more police and patrols in place to make the city safe for the entire population.”

Saeed said he was shot while pursuing people.

The shooting occurred near the 17000 block of Clarann ​​Street in Melvindale, where officers responded to a 911 call from a car wash at 17344 Clarann ​​Street. The neighborhood is near Oakwood Boulevard and Dix Road, just blocks from Marathon Petroleum Corp.’s sprawling oil refinery.
