Connie Chung admits in a letter to Christine Blasey Ford that she was sexually abused

In an open letter to Dr. Christine Blasey Ford published in the Washington Post on Wednesday, journalist Connie Chung revealed that she was sexually abused by her primary care doctor when she was a college student.

“Dear Christine Blasey Ford, I, too, was sexually abused – not 36 years ago, but about 50 years ago. I kept my dirty little secret to myself. For five decades, I remained silent. The perpetrator was our trusted family doctor,” wrote 72-year-old Chung at the beginning of the haunting letter.

Chung said she was “100 percent” sure who sexually abused her and that the abuse occurred when she went to the doctor to ask about “birth control pills, an IUD or a diaphragm.”

Chung described the “strange” feeling as she spread her legs and placed her heels in the “cold iron stirrups” before detailing the assault.

“As I stared at the ceiling, his right index finger massaged my clitoris. His right middle finger was inserted into my vagina and he moved both fingers rhythmically. In a soft voice, he instructed me, ‘Just breathe.’ ‘Ah-ah,’ imitating the sound of gentle breathing. ‘You’re doing well,’ he assured me,” Chung wrote. “Suddenly, to my shock, I had an orgasm for the first time in my life. My body twitched several times. Then he leaned forward, kissed me, gave me a peck on the lips and slipped behind the curtain into his office area.”

Chung said she couldn’t remember saying anything to him afterward and she “couldn’t even look at him.” She added that she may have told one of her sisters but didn’t tell her parents or report him to the police.

“It never occurred to me to protect other women. Please understand, I was actually ashamed of my sexual naivety. I was in my twenties and knew nothing about sex. I just wanted to bury the incident in my memory and protect my family,” she wrote.
