Release Date: Friday, July 19, 2024

Proof

Delaware State Police, with assistance from the Delaware Violent Crime and Safe Streets Task Force of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), arrested 41-year-old Ziare Miller of Middletown, Delaware, on serious weapons and drug charges following the conclusion of a months-long drug investigation in New Castle County yesterday morning.

In the early morning hours of July 17, 2024, members of the New Castle County Governor’s Task Force, Troop 2 Drug Unit, and the Delaware State Police Special Operations Response Team executed search warrants at a residence on Goodwick Drive in Middletown and at a commercial building owned by Ziare Miller on South Dupont Highway in New Castle. The search warrants were obtained following a multi-month FBI drug investigation into Ziare Miller, who was suspected of large-scale drug trafficking. Miller was taken into custody at his residence on Goodwick Drive without incident.

During the search of the two properties, the following items were found:

  • 2 loaded handguns
  • Multiple rounds of ammunition
  • Approximately 348 grams of a mixture of fentanyl, heroin and xylazine
  • About $7,600 from suspected drug trafficking
  • Various utensils including digital scales, hotplates and distribution/packaging materials

After executing the search warrants, investigators were able to use evidence discovered at the business to determine that Miller operated a heroin factory and cocaine distribution center from his location on South Dupont Highway. The evidence seized showed that the approximately 348 grams of heroin mixture seized prevented the manufacture and distribution of approximately 50,000 bags of heroin throughout the state of Delaware.

A computer search revealed that Miller is a convicted felon and is prohibited from possessing firearms and/or ammunition. Miller was transported to Squad 2 where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace 2, and remanded to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $203,000 bail.
