“We’re stuck here”: Local passengers affected by CrowdStrike incident – 104.5 WOKV

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A global cyber outage is causing headaches for millions of people around the world, including here at home in Jacksonville for travelers trying to fly.

The lines at Jacksonville International Airport were already around the corner and moving at a snail’s pace.

“I said, ‘You can’t be serious,'” said Latonya Crumitie.

That’s how she reacted after she boarded a plane to New York and had to wait an hour before she could get off again.

“We have waited so long for this trip and now we can’t get a flight, we are stuck here,” she said.

She was planning a girls’ trip for a friend’s birthday, but like thousands of others flying Delta, United or American Airlines at Jacksonville International Airport, her joy turned to frustration when a bug by CrowdStrike affected Microsoft products.

“It’s been very frustrating; we’ve been here since about 4:30 a.m.,” Crumitie said.

After the flight was canceled, travelers like Crumitie tried to plan their next steps.

“We will not give up the journey. We will continue to try to find a solution,” she said.
