This story will be updated as more information becomes available.

Members of a group of pro-Palestine protesters were arrested Thursday after a sit-in on the campus of New Mexico State University.

An Instagram account called “Las Cruces For Palestine” began livestreaming around 4:30 p.m. with about 20 protesters in the lobby of Hadley Hall, where the administrative offices are located.

On its Instagram page, Las Cruces for Palestine describes itself as a locally based group that “works for the liberation and realization of the fundamental rights of the Palestinian people.”

Protesters were also seen singing and chanting in the lobby, along with four or five New Mexico State University police officers.

At around 5:50 p.m., an officer was heard telling protesters that they would be arrested for trespassing at 6:05 p.m. if they did not leave. The live stream showed officers arresting several demonstrators.
