Alameda man arrested in connection with series of sexual assaults – NBC Bay Area

An Alameda man accused of a series of sexual assaults involving three victims within 24 hours has been arrested.

Police allege 22-year-old Teddy Oliver attacked the women on the city’s west side starting on July 5.

According to Alameda Police Chief Nishant Joshi, police believe Oliver first attacked a woman who resisted, and then he ran away. Minutes later, Oliver sexually assaulted another woman, police allege. The third alleged assault occurred the next day.

“Any person laying a hand on another person is terrifying,” Joshi said. “Sexual harassment is unacceptable. These are outrageous acts.”

All three women reported the assaults immediately. Police said they were able to arrest Oliver quickly thanks to reporting, technology and help from the public.

There are published reports that one of his victims was pregnant, but police did not immediately confirm this.

Oliver now faces several charges, including rape, kidnapping, robbery and sexual abuse.

During police questioning, Joshi said that Oliver also linked himself to the attacks.

“He provided some information that confirmed what we believe happened,” Joshi said.

Oliver is due to go on trial later this month.
