Police identify deceased Fremont father as suspect in death of 3-year-old daughter – NBC Bay Area

San Jose police on Tuesday officially named the late father of a 3-year-old Fremont girl found dead at a recycling plant as a suspect in the murder.

Ellie Obi Lorenzo, who was reported missing in Fremont late last week after she was not returned to her mother as part of a custody agreement, was found dead Saturday morning at a recycling facility in the 600 block of Charles Street in San Jose, according to police. Her father, 42-year-old Jared Lorenzo, is believed to have played a role in her death but was later found dead himself in San Francisco.

Ellie was last seen alive with her father at a home in Fremont on Thursday night, according to police. Investigators determined Jared and Ellie then drove to his Fremont apartment.

The next day, shortly after 6 a.m., Jared left his house and drove to San Jose. He took Ellie’s body out of the trunk of his car and disposed of it in a trash can, police said.

The container was later emptied by garbage collectors and taken to the Charles Street facility, police said.

Jared later drove through several cities before finally stopping in San Francisco, where he was found dead shortly after 11 a.m., according to police.

The cause and manner of death are still being investigated, police said.
