A stab in the forehead led to a man in Opa-locka killing a colleague, according to police

OPA LOCKA, Florida. – Opa-locka police arrested a man on Monday who shot his colleague after an argument at work.

Authorities said officers were dispatched to Arrow Asphalt & Engineering, 3051 NW 129th St., shortly after 6 a.m. after receiving reports of shots fired.

Police confirmed that 38-year-old Andre Lenard White was found outside the store with multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to a police report, Maurice Antwan Williams, 40, of Miami, first got into an argument with White on July 9, which resulted in White punching Williams in the forehead.

According to police, Williams then hit White and his colleagues separated the two men. Williams was then asked by his supervisor to leave the construction site.

According to police, Williams returned Monday morning. White’s supervisor told White to go home for the day, so White went to his vehicle, which was parked on a dirt road.

Co-workers told investigators they saw Williams sprint to his vehicle, fumble around in the driver’s area and then run to where White was last seen. Moments later, they heard “several rapid gunshots,” according to police.

Williams was then seen walking back to his vehicle and saying he would wait for police.

When speaking to investigators, Williams claimed that White approached him, punched him in the back of the head, causing him to fall to his knees, and then put him in a chokehold, the report said.

Sky 10 flew over the crime scene, where the man’s body was covered with a yellow tarp next to a white car.

According to police, the victim was taken to the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.

Jail records show Williams faces one count of premeditated murder with a deadly weapon.

He has been in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center since Tuesday, where his bail has not yet been decided.
