Tuscaloosa County woman killed in dog attack

TUSCALOOSA COUNTY, Alabama (WIAT) – A Tuscaloosa County woman was killed in a dog attack Thursday night.

According to the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, officers received a call around 9:20 p.m. about a dog attack on Highway 69 North near the community of Berry.


The person who reported the attack was a family member of the victim who was checking on her at the request of the victim’s husband. When the caller arrived, he found the woman in the enclosure and attempted to check on her. However, when he entered the enclosure, the dog also attacked him. The sheriff’s office stated that the caller was then forced to euthanize the dog.

When officers arrived, they found the woman dead in the dog kennel. Her identity has not yet been released.

The sheriff’s office said the family had no previous problems with the dog and that it was a family pet. The dog’s breed was not disclosed.
