Suspect arrested after shooting in Roxbury

BOSTON – Police arrested a 22-year-old man Thursday in connection with a shooting that damaged vehicles and property in Roxbury earlier this month.

Nyshiem Shaw, of West Roxbury, was taken into custody at 6:01 a.m. by members of the Boston Police Department’s Youth Violence Strike Force, authorities said.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Shaw on several charges related to the July 7 incident.

According to police, officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation indicating that 15 shots were fired near 76 Bower Street at approximately 3:45 a.m. on July 7.

Upon arrival, they found ballistic damage to three vehicles and a building.

Shaw is charged with illegal possession of a firearm, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a residential dwelling, and four counts of criminal damage to property valued at more than $1,200.

He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
