Naugatuck teenager arrested with stolen vehicle on July 7, 2024.

NAUGATUCK, Connecticut (WTNH) – Naugatuck police say a teenager was arrested Sunday with the help of a police dog in connection with a car theft.

At around 8 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of ​​Culver Street and Homestead Avenue for a report of a suspicious, damaged Honda Civic that had been abandoned by a young man.


Police determined the vehicle was stolen in Ridgefield. Officers said they knew of a 16-year-old in the area who was recently arrested for another stolen vehicle.

K9 Hardy helped trace the vehicle to the house where the juvenile was located, as he was the last person to operate the car. A witness also positively identified the juvenile as the person he saw exit the vehicle.

The youth was issued a summons and charged with auto theft.

They were released to a parent and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Juvenile Court on July 8.
