Heavy rainfall and waterlogging on railway tracks lead to suspension of train services; details can be found here

Heavy rains caused disruptions to local transport, particularly in Thane district in Maharashtra, leading to train cancellations for hours on Sunday morning. According to railway officials, the line between Kalyan and Kasara was affected.

Following heavy rains since Saturday, water ingress has been reported in trains on the Kalyan-Kasara route, especially between Vasind and Khadavli stations. Local trains have been suspended while long-distance trains have been diverted.

According to the authorities, the tracks on the Kalyan-Kasara route were declared “unsafe” due to heavy rain and soil pollution between Atgaon and Thansit stations. Subsequently, a tree fell on the tracks near Vasind station, blocking the route for all trains. The long-distance trains including train number 11060 LTT EXP JCO, 12294 PRYJ – LTT Duronto EXP JCO, 12742 PNBE- VSG EXP, 14314 BE – LTT EXP JCO were all heavily diverted.

To make matters worse, near Vasind, a fallen overhead catenary pole and the pantograph of the Mumbai-bound Punjab Mail, a long-distance train running between Mumbai and Ferozpur, got entangled. The technical team immediately started the restoration work and the tracks were cleared within a few hours.

The trains which no longer run in Igatpuri are train numbers 20705 J – CSMT Vande Bharat Express and 20706 CSMT – J Vande Bharat Express.

The others which have been diverted due to flooding between Vasind and Khadavli sections via Diva – Vasai Road (BSR) – Jalgaon (JL) are train numbers 12534 CSMT – LJN Pushpak Express, 12519 LTT – AGTL Express and 12336 LTT – BGP Express.
