hotter at home while Beryl speculates on the Gulf

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Great to see you this Friday. Heat index values will reach 105 on Friday and possibly Saturday. Air temperatures should be between 90 and 95 degrees inland and 80 and 95 degrees near the coast. Speaking of the coast, stay alert in and around the water as there is an increased risk of rip currents amid the inviting 80-degree surf. Rain chances will be very low early on and favorable to your plans; later on in the holiday weekend and into next week, chances for drought-damaging downpours should increase.

In the tropics, Hurricane Beryl continues to move toward the Gulf of Mexico. Invest 96-L has little chance of developing but will likely bring a double whammy of heavy rains and gusty storms to the Yucatan Peninsula and the Greater Antilles.
