Rapper 50 Cent mocks Rick Ross for making a ‘great escape’ after alleged attack by Drake thugs in Canada

The animosity between William Leonard “Rick Ross” Roberts II and Drake turns physical when some OVO thugs attack the Everyday Hustle singer after he plays Kendrick Lamar’s song “Not Like Us.”

And rapper 50 Cent immediately described the confrontation as a “great escape.”

“LMAO THE GREAT ESCAPE! MEEKA CALL THE CHASERS THEY’RE CHASING ME. LOL,” he posted, poking fun at Ross.

The incident occurred outside BC Place Stadium and was confirmed by event organizers after a video of the brawl surfaced on social media.

Ross, 48, was headlining the Ignite Music Festival, held at the Plaza of Nations next to the stadium in downtown Vancouver. The video, shared on X (formerly Twitter), shows Ross in the middle of a crowd, engaged in a heated exchange with another man. The confrontation quickly escalates when the man appears to throw a punch at Ross, resulting in a chaotic brawl.

“Great escape” for Rick Ross

Lindsay Sparrow, CFO of event organizer Canadian Events Agency, gave details of the situation, saying she was backstage during the altercation. She said it was a “brief altercation” but that security quickly resolved it.

Many X users claimed that they were clearly Drake minions, with one user posting, “You think Toronto lets you disrespect Drake n**a,” and another commenting, “Damn Drake better act like the military in Miami.”

Sparrow attributed the incident to tensions that arose after Ross ended his set with Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” a diss track aimed at Toronto rapper Drake.

However, there is no report that the attacker in the video has any connection to Drake.

Earlier this year, a war of words erupted on social media between Drake and Kendrick Lamar, with both artists releasing diss tracks attacking each other. Drake’s song “Push Ups,” released on April 13, not only targets Lamar, but also includes jabs at Ross, Future, Metro Boomin, and The Weeknd. Within 24 hours of the release of “Push Ups,” Ross responded with his song “Champagne Moments,” in which he accuses Drake of having had a nose job.

“The security guards did a great job and … everyone got out safely, which is always our main concern for all festival goers,” said Sparrow CBC News.

Ross did not directly address the altercation, but posted a farewell message to Vancouver on his Instagram account. “Vancouver, it was fun, see you next time,” he wrote alongside a photo of his private jet.
