NDC National Executive Board angry over suspension of ‘sexy’ Assin Central PC

The leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) expressed anger over the suspension of Nurein Shaibu Migyimah, the parliamentary candidate for Assin Central.

Migyimah was recently suspended from the party’s regional secretariat after being accused of impregnating the constituency secretary’s wife.

According to the National Executives, the decision of the Regional Executives to withdraw the parliamentary candidate for immoral conduct was taken without the approval of the Functional Executive Committee and is considered improper and in breach of due process and the provisions of Articles 40, 41, 46 and 48 of the NDC Constitution.

In a statement signed by Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, Secretary General, the NDC said that in lieu of the above, the leadership has requested the Central Regional Secretariat to appear before the National Party Leadership together with your Regional Secretary on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at 2:00pm to explain how this letter could have been sent without the approval of the National Party Leadership.

The Central Regional Secretariat of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) announced the suspension of Assin parliamentary candidate Nurein Shaibu Migyimah for allegedly having sexual intercourse with the wife of the constituency secretary.

According to a statement signed by Gabriel Nii Kommey Adams, regional secretary of the NDC, the decision was taken after the Regional Functional Executive Committee (R-FEC) conducted a preliminary investigation into reports of “immoral acts and anti-party conduct” against Migyimah.

“After conducting its preliminary investigation and examining the matter in detail and comprehensively, the Regional Functional Executive Committee consulted other key stakeholders in the region and the party leadership at the national level and resolved that Nurein Shaibu Migyimah be withdrawn as the NDC candidate for the 2024 Assin central election with immediate effect,” the statement said.

Migyimah was therefore expelled from the party for six months and referred to the regional disciplinary committee for a decision, as his party membership was also suspended pending a final decision on his case.

But Emmanuel Abdoni, Assin’s NDC central communications officer, dismissed the allegations as untrue.

He therefore called on the party to provide evidence against the parliamentary candidate.

He said the party’s constituency leadership in Assin Central, including the Council of Elders, was unaware of the allegations.
