Death of Wayne County inmate under investigation.

RICHMOND, Ind. (WDTN) – Indiana State Police are investigating the death of an inmate at the Wayne County Jail.

ISP detectives were called to the Wayne County Correctional Facility at approximately 5 a.m. on Friday, June 28, at the request of Wayne County Sheriff Randy Ritter after an inmate was found dead.

36-year-old Andrew Scott Tyler was found unconscious by hospital staff and immediately attempted medical treatment, but was unsuccessful. Taylor was later pronounced dead.

Investigators do not suspect foul play, but the investigation is ongoing. ISP was assisted by the Wayne County Coroner’s Office, Sheriff’s Department and Richmond Fire Department.
