Dangerous area on the beach of Lake Erie until Monday, June 24

CLEVELAND (WJW) – The National Weather Service has expanded its hazard advisory for beaches in northeast Ohio.

According to the NWS, the warning is in effect for Cuyahoga, Lorain and Lake counties until 8 a.m. Monday and for Ashtabula Lakeshore and Erie counties until Monday afternoon due to a high risk of surf rip currents.

The NWS advises Ohio residents that wind and wave-induced currents along lake shores can carry swimmers away from shore.

“Stay out of the water to avoid dangerous swimming conditions,” the warning said.
