Hampton man pleads guilty to recording child sexual abuse material following investigation by NNSY police and NCIS

Corey Thomas Mason, 29, used a cell phone to record videos of exposed minors in a restroom stall at an amusement park, according to a press release from the U.S. Department of Justice.

HAMPTON, Virginia – A Hampton man has pleaded guilty to recording videos of minors in an amusement park restroom, the Department of Justice (DOJ) said.

Court documents show that Corey Thomas Mason, 29, used a cellphone to record videos of exposed minors in an amusement park bathroom stall on Sept. 4, according to a U.S. Department of Justice press release.

On February 8, 2022, the Norfolk Naval Shipyard Police requested assistance from the Naval Investigative Criminal Service (NCIS) in reviewing Mason’s cell phone in connection with NNSY in Portsmouth.

A review of Mason’s phone found several videos of men in the bathroom after forensic data extraction, while another review identified two videos of minors.

Mason pleaded guilty to producing child sexual abuse material on June 21 of this year.

Mason’s sentencing is scheduled for October 18. He faces up to 20 years in prison.
