The investigation was initiated after two attempted bank robberies in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Missouri (KCTV) – The Federal Bureau of Investigation has opened two investigations following two attempted bank robberies in Kansas City during the week.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation announced Wednesday, May 8, that an investigation was launched after a man wearing a COVID mask attempted to rob two banks in Kansas City.

Agents said a suspect entered the U.S. Bank at 221 W. Gregory Blvd. have entered. and handed the cashier a note threatening violence if his demands were not met. However, he did not show a weapon.

Investigators then discovered that a suspect had also entered the US Bank at 6300 Troost Ave. entered and also unsuccessfully handed the cashier a threatening letter.

While the FBI said it was too early to know whether the robberies were related, the suspects in both cases were described as wearing gray pants, a black jacket and a COVID mask. No injuries were reported at either crime scene.
