Rockford man arrested for sexual assault, threatens to burn down his house

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – A 59-year-old Rockford man who has an outstanding arrest warrant is allegedly involved in a domestic dispute that led to his arrest.

Larry Joseph had an outstanding warrant for his arrest in Boone County for sexual assault. Joseph was also allegedly involved in a domestic dispute in which he threatened to burn down his family’s home in Machesney Park. According to police, the threats caused his family to fear for their lives and flee the area.

On June 19, police conducted a follow-up and located Joseph in the 7000 block of Burden Road. He was arrested on a warrant and taken to the Winnebago County Jail.

Sheriff Gary Caruana issued a statement saying, “Domestic violence continues to be a major problem affecting individuals and families throughout our county. I urge anyone who is a victim or witness of a domestic violence situation to report it to law enforcement immediately. There are organizations and support services available to assist victims of domestic violence. As Sheriff of Winnebago County, I am deeply committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents of our county.”
