Man killed in semi-trailer crash in Fresno County, CHP says

A man was killed in an accident involving a semi-trailer truck in Fresno County.

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) – A man was killed in an accident involving a semi-trailer truck in Fresno County.

According to the California Highway Patrol, it happened shortly before 1:30 p.m. Monday near Kamm on Jameson Avenue.

They say a 53-year-old man who was driving an SUV on Jameson Street ignored a stop sign and drove directly into the path of an oncoming truck.

The 70-year-old driver of the truck had the right of way.

According to officials, the front of the semi-trailer collided with the side of the SUV.

Both vehicles ended up in an almond plantation.

The man died at the scene of the accident.

The truck driver suffered minor injuries.

Officials say alcohol or drugs do not appear to have played a role, but the investigation is still ongoing.
