One-year-old boy loses three toes in lawnmower accident in Wolcott, police say

WOLCOTT – A 1-year-old boy lost three toes after his leg became trapped under a moving electric lawn mower on Munson Road, police said.

Wolcott Police Chief Edward Stephens said officers were notified of the incident around 7 p.m. Monday.

According to Stephens, the toddler was chasing his older sister, who was operating a lawn mower, when his leg became trapped under the machine.

Stephens said the girl did not know how to turn off the lawnmower, so the father ran over to take the lawnmower away from the toddler.

The 1-year-old was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital and then to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center for treatment, Stephens said.
