Police search for CT man tied to bench, Dunkin’ robbery

Police are searching for a Southington man who was involved in two robberies in Torrington in recent days, including one at a bank on Tuesday.

According to Torrington police, officers responded at 11 a.m. to the TD Bank in the Torrington Commons Plaza at 215 High St. on a report of a robbery in progress.

According to police, a man entered the bank and handed the teller a note demanding cash and indicating he was armed with a gun. The man fled on foot after being handed cash from the cash register.

Shortly thereafter, officers arrived on scene and reviewed surveillance footage, which police said led them to believe the same man had attempted to rob a Dunkin’ on East Main Street Saturday night.

During the incident at Dunkin’, a man demanded all the money from the cash drawer during the drive-thru, police said. The robber claimed to have a gun.

According to police, the man was chased away by another customer before he could get any money.

Police said their investigation later led to 38-year-old Kyle Witkoski being identified as a suspect. Investigators obtained an arrest warrant for him in connection with the incident and Dunkin’ and were expecting an arrest warrant for bank robbery.

Police have released photos of Witkoski, whose last known address was in Southington, and asked the public for help finding him. Although authorities have not confirmed that he is armed with a gun, police warned that he threatened to have a weapon on him in both incidents.

Police said anyone who comes into contact with Witkoski should be cautious and call the Torrington Police Department at 860-489-2000.
