One dead after traffic accident in Franklin County

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Alabama (WHNT) – The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) reports that a man has died following a car crash in Franklin County.

ALEA said 77-year-old Don W. League of Haleyville was pronounced dead Thursday following a crash near Haleyville.

Authorities said the accident occurred at about 7:55 p.m. when the 1990 Ford Ranger League left the roadway on Franklin County Road 6 near Franklin County Road 69. Authorities said after leaving the roadway, the truck struck a ditch, a fence, a culvert and a tree.

ALEA said League was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The agency said no further information was available at this time as the state police investigation is ongoing.
