Atlanta Water Department Slowly Pressures Water Lines, Water May Drip From Fire Hydrants – WSB-TV Channel 2

ATLANTA — Now that repairs to Atlanta’s water main breaks are complete and service is returning to homes and businesses, the Atlanta Department of Watershed Management is working to pressurize water lines. city ​​water by eliminating excess air.

During this process, however, there are some things to watch out for coming out of your faucets, but officials say not to worry.

“Dirt and sediment may be visible during the initial return of water service. “Don’t worry if you see water flowing from the fire hydrant or onto your street,” according to water officials.

Meanwhile, a boil water advisory is still in effect in parts of Atlanta as the city slowly brings the water system back online to full operation.

“DWM is following its water system flushing protocols as a precaution and has tested the affected areas to confirm that the public water in the system is safe for all purposes. The Georgia Division of Environmental Protection will notify the Department of Watershed Management when the advisory can be lifted,” city officials said in a statement.
