Two South Carolina men arrested after chase through three Alabama counties

Two people were arrested and charged Tuesday morning after a chase from St. Clair County to Shelby County. Alabama police reported that a trooper attempted to stop a Volvo XC60 for speeding, but the driver refused to stop and a pursuit began. This happened on Interstate 20 west of Pell City just before 7 a.m. June 4. Police said the pursuit continued on I-20 into Jefferson County and then south on I-65 into Shelby County. During the pursuit, the Volvo struck a Ford F-250 truck, causing minor damage, troopers said. The Volvo eventually came to a stop, and the driver, Chesnie Redmond, 38, of Fountain Inn, S.C., was arrested and charged with several traffic violations and some illegal drug offenses, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said. ALEA, with assistance from officers from the Alabaster Police Department, was able to catch and arrest the passenger, who fled the vehicle. The passenger was identified as Denzel Talton, 26, of Greer, South Carolina, and he also faces charges, state troopers said. No injuries were reported. Two people were arrested and charged following a chase from St. Clair County to Shelby County Tuesday morning.

Alabama State Police reported that an officer attempted to stop a Volvo XC60 for speeding, but the driver refused to stop, and a chase began.

This happened on June 4 just before 7 a.m. on Interstate 20 west of Pell City.

State police said the pursuit took place on I-20 into Jefferson County and then south on I-65 into Shelby County.

During the chase, the Volvo collided with a Ford F-250 truck, causing minor damage, police said.

The Volvo eventually came to a stop and the driver, Chesnie Redmond, 38, of Fountain Inn, South Carolina, was arrested and charged with several traffic violations and some drug law violations, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said.

ALEA, with the assistance of officers from the Alabaster Police Department, was able to catch and arrest the passenger who escaped from the vehicle.

The passenger was identified as Denzel Talton, 26, of Greer, South Carolina, and also faces charges, state police officials said.

No injuries were reported.
